February Meeting Notes

Hello:
Eve was so nice to take notes for me to post. Below is her email. One of the first things we talked about was our favorite clay types and where to purchase clay and find a good price. This comes up often at our meetings and it's clear that here is another way we miss Lis-el. A lot of members used to purchase their clay directly from her. Laura suggested searching on Amazon. She has had luck finding Art Clay at a good price there. Bevlynn recommended Metal Clay Supply. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let us know. Some members have started working in metal clay again. Linda Casillo started by creating a sketch of a new idea she had, and then created the piece with much success (even though it turned out a bit different than the sketch- that happens a lot!). She also made a beautiful shawl pin. Great work! Two members who couldn't make the meeting shared pictures of things they've been working on. Sara Brown showed a gorgeous pearl ring she made. Wowza! (I said that for Lis-el) And Kathy Citron showed the lovely fused glass cabochons she created. Nice, Kathy.

Laura mentioned the AMCAW "Lis-el Crowley Vision Award" that is in the works. We all agreed it's going to be quite a challenge to find a recipient. Lis-el was truly one of a kind and a hard act to follow. But if you do have a thought of someone, you can nominate them on the AMCAW web site. All the information is here https://amcaw.org/lcva/ We are thinking about making a destash connection. Maybe by exchanging information through email or setting something up on Facebook? More to come on that. Last, there were a few names of companies for tools and supplies that were shared. One was orientalpearls.net, a good supplier for nice quality, reasonably priced pearls. Another was MKM Tools, for texture tools (they supply ceramic artist tools) and Mud Tools, where Ilene purchased "making marks" tools. If anyone would like to add anything else, please "reply all" to this email and we will all be able to read it. Thanks! Stay well everybody! Better times are ahead! -Evelyn
