November Meeting

Our November meeting was very well attended and full of lively discussions. We congratulated two, yes two, Certificate of Merit Award winners and potential Peoples’ Choice Award winners for the AMCAW Sea & Sky Challenge. Laura brought us congratulation balloons!! Eve, with her beautiful “By the Light of the Moon” pendant and me, with “This is Bob” pendant. You can go to the AMCAW website to vote for your favorite piece.

Sue and Eve (Eve wearing her piece) with our congratulations balloons!

We then talked about our upcoming meetings and mini Mojo retreat. The date for the December meeting is 12/1 in Windsor. This is our holiday potluck too. You can bring in a savory or sweet dish. Keep in mind we have a member with a tree nut allergy. We also have a gift exchange. Each gift must be handmade (not necessarily metal clay either) and have a value of about $30.00.

We also will have our ring reveal. Earlier in the year we set a Ring challenge. It can be any kind of ring, simple or elaborate, finger or toe (or whatever!); just challenge yourself with a new technique.

We talked briefly about our mini Mojo retreat in April. We are thinking of ideas for a workshop or two and any other demos. If you have ideas, please let us know.

We also talked about AMCAW’s upcoming events. They just had their first virtual guild meeting. If you are a member and missed it, you can watch it from the website. The next one is January 18. The first conference will be in Pittsburgh, PA in May 12-18 2021. The format will be a 2-day preconference, a 3-day conference filled with lots of things to do and see, and a 2-day post-conference. Sounds like an incredible venue. Watch for information on their website.

Also MCAS conference in Winston-Salem in August 2020.

Eve gave us a great demo on Aura 22 which is a gold paste. It is in a paste form and is used to accent pieces with added bling. Her demo was great. It is not an easy process (you need patience) or an inexpensive one; but the end results are worth it.

We also discussed places to have shows or pop-up markets. There are some places around the area that were discussed. If you know of anything that may be interesting and supportive, let us know.

All in all another great meeting. See you in December.
