Butterfly Dance
I was really excited to participate in the first AMCAW challenge. The Flash and Fire tutorials were all great and I tried my hand at a few of them, but I really loved the idea of using a resist to apply a pattern of patina to my piece as described by Lora Hart’s Ir-RESIST-able Patina tutorial. Mainly because, like Lora, I have great childhood memories of the magic of using resists with crayons and black tempera paint. This piece was just as fun to make as that! It brought me a lot of joy! I love how the resist process with patina on metal clay adds a unique dimension to a pendant. I am also partial to Lisel Crowley’s designs and drew inspiration for the shape of my pendant from one of her tutorial projects as my canvas for the resist. I love the curves and the flow of it, and the patina pattern made by the resist reminded me of butterflies flitting around on a hot summer day.
